Meghan Markle Confirms Her Father Will Not Be Attending The Big Day

Kensington Palace has released a statement on Meghan Markle’s behalf confirming her father, Thomas Markle, will not be attending her wedding come May 19.

The statement posted to twitter reads:

“Sadly, my father will not be attending our wedding. I have always cared for my father and hope he can be given the space he needs to focus on his health.

I would like to thank everyone who has offered generous messages of support. Please know how much Harry and I look forward to sharing our special day with you on Saturday.”

It’s been a bloody horrific wedding week for the Markle family for a bunch of reasons. First, news surfaced that the adorable paparazzi shots of Thomas were actually reportedly staged by him and photographer Jeff Rayner. These pap shots include one of Thomas getting measured for a suit in his hometown in Mexico and another where he’s spotted reading a book on British landmarks.

Following the entire kerfuffle, Thomas reportedly pulled out of the wedding because he didn’t want to cause any more embarrassment to the family. Combine this with the attention of the world’s media and Thomas’ health seriously suffered. Yesterday, reports shared how Thomas had undergone heart surgery following an apparent heart attack. However the 73-year-old is reportedly in recovery now.

Oh, Meghan’s horrible half-sister – the one who apparently charges a hefty sum per interview to dish some dirt on her beloved sissy may or may not have broken her ankle today. A shame, really. Everyone was so looking forward to her flying out to London to offer a live-commentary on the wedding.

Meghan may be marrying a Prince but far out, you really gotta feel for her right now.

Of course, posh royal-watchers and us peasants will now join heads and discuss who’ll walk Meghan down the aisle or if, and to quote their TV film, “to hell with tradition” she’ll go it alone.

The Royal Wedding will air on Channel 7 from 6PM, Channel 9 from 7PM, ABC from 7:30PM, and SBS from 7:30PM as well.
