Demi Lovato Is Reportedly Experiencing Complications & Remains In Hospital

Six days after being hospitalised following an apparent drug overdose, Demi Lovato remains in Cedars-Sinai Medical Center as she is reportedly experiencing complications, via TMZ.

Sources close to the situation told the gossip site that the 25-year-old is “suffering extreme nausea and a high fever”, among other things that are allegedly among the “complications” related to the overdose.

The singer’s overdose was reportedly so severe that her life was “in jeopardy”, the publication adds. She was unconscious when paramedics arrived at her Hollywood Hills home and had to be revived with Narcan, an antidote to an opioid OD.

She allegedly refused to tell the paramedics what drugs she had taken, but sources say it appeared to be some sort of opioid.

Doctors have not decided when Demi can be released from the hospital, but one source said, “She is under the care of medical experts and is expected to make a full recovery.”

When the actress is ready to be discharged from the hospital, insiders claim that she will be headed straight to rehab to begin her recovery.

“She slipped up and thought she could handle it. This is obviously a huge wake-up call,” a source told E! News.

“Demi doesn’t want to die and she’s very grateful to be alive. She will be leaving the hospital and heading straight to rehab. Her family has been by her side supporting her and is getting her the help she needs.”

An insider told Us Weekly that only Lovato’s mother has been given clearance to visit her room.

“The hospital has placed two security guards outside of her room and has been instructed to not let anyone that Demi’s mom hasn’t approved to visit her,” says the source.

“The entire floor is basically on lockdown with the rooms next to hers remaining vacant to give her the upmost privacy.”

In a statement to Us Weekly, the singer’s rep thanked fans for their love and support and stated that some information has been reported incorrectly.

“Demi is awake and with her family who want to express thanks to everyone for the love, prayers and support. Some of the information being reported is incorrect and they respectfully ask for privacy and not speculation as her health and recovery is the most important thing right now.”
