Georgia Love Spills On The Batshit Selection Process For ‘Bachie’ Contestants

It’s supremely obvi that the vast majority of Aussies who agree to sign their souls away to appear on dating shows are in it for purposes other than dating, right? But if you’re hopelessly naive and prefer to think that 99.9 per cent of contestants are actually in it for love and nothing more, former Bachelorette Georgia Love has dispelled the myth for you.

In a column for TV Week Up Close, Georgia admits that she was aware that most of the blokes who signed up, supposedly for her heart, were actually in it for fame.

“You’d have to be silly to [not realise] that, out of 18 blokes who willingly chose to go on a reality TV show, some had intentions other than being my boyfriend,” she wrote.

“There were, at the very least, three guys on my series who I don’t think realised the idea of the show was that someone would end up with me. I’m almost certain two of them didn’t know my name.”

She goes on to claim that producers specifically select a variety of personalities for each season including nice guys, funny folk and villains to make the show more entertaining, most of whom aren’t even in it for love. Meaning the selection process is not ~random~, as they’d have you believe, but Love reckons there’s actually nothing wrong with that.

“Each season, we see more people go in with apparent ulterior motives and come out with teeth-whitening deals,” she wrote. “But is this really a bad thing?”

I mean, it really doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure all this out, especially considering the way this season’s gone, but it’s always good to hear the truth from someone who knows what they’re talking about.
