The director of Monsters University, the Monsters, Inc. prequel, Dan Scanlon returns, as The Hollywood Reporter writes, bringing with him an impressive cast of actors: my buff Christian boyfriend Chris PrattJulia Louis-Dreyfus (Elaine from Seinfeld, also Veep); the 101st man to play Spiderman, Tom Holland; and a bloody Oscar winner Octavia Spencer.

The flick is reportedly set in a “suburban fantasy world“, where “two teen elf brothers […] go on a quest to discover if there is still magic left in the world“.

Scanlon said the storyline emerged from his own “personal truth“: “This film was inspired by my own relationship with my brother.”

If Pratt and Holland are bros, does that mean Englishman Holland’s pulling out his American accent or will we get this effort from Chris Pratt again?

It’s not the first time Pratt’s taken on a voice role, having featured in The Lego Movie in 2014, a role he’ll be reprising for the sequel next year. Spencer knows what to do behind a mike too, after 2016’s Zootopia. And Louis-Dreyfus is a voice actor from way back, with a role in A Bug’s Life in 1998, and then more recently in 2013 in Planes.

Holland has a couple vocal roles coming up in animated feature Spies in Disguise with Will Smith, and in The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle, starring Robert Downey Jr.

Onward is due out in March 2020.
