Chris Pratt & Tom Holland Are Elf Bros In The Trailer For Pixar’s ‘Onward’

Onward

Overnight, Pixar finally revealed the poster for its upcoming animated film Onward, which has been teased as a “suburban fantasy”. Now the trailer’s here, we finally understand what they mean by that description, and it looks like a whole lot of fun.

Onward stars Chris Pratt and Tom Holland as a pair of elf brothers in a modern world where humans never existed, and mythical creatures run the show. The first teaser, released earlier today, features all the expected Pixar flourishes. Per the official plot description:

“The film is set in a suburban magical world where humans never happened, and is instead populated with elves, trolls, mermaids, centaurs, fauns, satyrs, gnomes, sprites, goblins and others, where unicorns are raccoons and dragons are pets. Two teenage elf brothers, Ian and Barley, embark on a quest to discover if there is still magic in the world in order to spend one day with their father, who died when they were too young to remember him.”

Dan Scanlon, the writer and director of Onward, lost his father at a young age, and has said that the film is inspired by his own relationship with his brother. It’s due for release in 2020, and also stars Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Octavia Spencer.

Next up for Pixar is Toy Story 4, and you can check out the trailer for that one right here.
