In amongst the (now dearly departed) egg avatars and anonymous harassment of celebrities, the true function of Twitter is to imagine what whacky scenarios your favourite sitcoms that have long been off the air are getting into nowadays.

The project is the brainchild of Melbourne-based comedian/producer Harrison Engstrom, who (in-between producing a Comedy Festival show which you can check out with your own eyes here) who cooked up the idea while binging old episodes on lunch breaks.
“I’d been talking with my parents who were in Thailand recently and I’d been watching Kath and Kim a whole bunch during my lunch breaks. The combination of just thinking of a whole episode of the entire Kath and Kim cast in Thailand was very slowly cracking me up as I was thinking of plotlines.”
“I literally have 20 episodes in my Twitter drafts.”
And as for the real pressing question, which is what the dear, sweet, Kel Knight is up to and how his sausages are going, Engstrom has the answers:
“I imagine he tries to study and treat it like he’s Jiro Ono from Jiro Dreams of Sushi – he just keeps focused on his work and takes influences from everywhere he can. I’m also aware that his whole sausage game was only a small part of the first two seasons, but I like to think deep down that’s what Kel really wants to be – the best husband first and the best sausage maker in the world second.”
If you think the potential for updated Australian shows ends there, you are sadly bloody mistaken.
“My next Twitter account is going to be @SeaChangeToday to keep people updated with what Laura and Diver Dan are up to. Also possibly @CouchPotatoToday or @RecoveryToday if Dylan Lewis is onboard.”
