Spanish TV Host Caught Cheating After Nude Person Walks Into Live Interview & Oh Dios Mio

Say what you want about the pandemic, but it’s created an absolute golden age for the genre of Thing Wandering Into The Background Of An At-Home Live TV Interview. A niche yet extremely fertile ground of content. And it’s latest offering just about takes the cake, because it not only features a Spanish TV host having his live interview interrupted by something that shouldn’t have, but also managed to out him as a cheater in the process.

News anchor Alfonso Merlos has had his various chickens come home to roost, after a Zoom interview on a YouTube channel was interrupted by a person wandering past in the background who was both a) not his girlfriend, and b) quite naked.

The wild gaffe went down on the Estada de Alarma YouTube channel during a live video call, with the partially clothed woman casually gliding by behind Merlos as he spoke, much to the apparent shock of the channel’s host.

As it turns out, the person in question is very much not Merlos girlfriend, Big Brother Spain star Marta López. Yikes.

Following a media storm in Spain, it was revealed that the person-in-question was fellow journalist Alexia Rivas.

At that point, this whole shebang gets really murky. After remaining silent on social media for several days, Merlos issued a public apology to López while insisting that the pair had split up prior to him hooking up with Rivas.

On another Spanish TV show, Merlos stated “If you think that my attitude has not been correct or that there are things that I have not done well, I have no problem asking for forgiveness, although my goal was not to harm someone else.”

However, López returned serve by insisting the pair were indeed still in a relationship at the time of the video, and that the whole scenario was “unpleasant” and “shameful.”

Rivas, for her part, claims Merlos “told me he was single” before they dating, and that they have “been (seeing each other) three weeks.”

The lesson to be learned here? Zoom Virtual Backgrounds don’t just hide the dirty laundry piled on your bedroom floor. Or something like that.
