US President Donald Trump made the unusual decision to roast himself at a white-tie dinner over the weekend with a joke that First Lady Melania Trump could be the next White House figure to spectacularly walk the hell out of his life / administration.
Speaking at Saturday’s Gridiron Dinner, an annual closed-door meeting of high-profile journalists and Washington D.C. power players, Trump addressed the ongoing exodus of staff members from his deeply cooked inner sanctum.
“So many people have been leaving the White House. It’s invigorating since you want turnover. I like chaos. It really is good,” Trump said. “Who’s going to be the next to leave? [senior Trump advisor] Steve Miller, or Melania?”
The prez later joked that because of new tax reforms, “she can finally claim me as an adult dependent.”
He reportedly added that Melania, who was present at the dinner was actually having an ace time in Washington. Just a great time, folks.
Those self-owns come after Michael Wolff‘s incendiary book Fire And Fury presented the disputed claim that their marriage is “perplexing” at best and very strained at worst.
Good-o. We’re sure these throwaway jokes won’t eventually be seen as a harbinger of doom, not at all.
