Jack is back.

Nearly nine years after capturing the Australia’s Got Talent crown, singer Jack Vidgen has been revealed as a new contender for Eurovision – Australia Decides.

The 22-year-old, who somehow managed to channel Whitney Houston as a cherub-faced kid from Manly Vale, will join a suite of artists vying to be Australia’s representative at the international competition.

Oh, he’s also released his song entry, I Am King I Am Queen, to give you an idea of what to expect.

The Sam Smith-esque ballad is “a real representation of me and everything I stand for”, Vidgen said in a statement.

“I think that everyone, young and old, will be able to relate to and take inspiration from this song.”

SBS today announced Vidgen will be joined by fellow talent show champ Diana Rouvas, who secured her win for The Voice 2019.

Jaguar Jonze will also take to the stage next year, hopefully bringing the slapback guitar lines which propel Triple J Unearthed favourite Beijing Baby.

Speaking of shit-hot guitar lines, Darwin-based songwriter Jordan-Ravi rounds out the latest announcement. I mean, come on:

Billie Eilish might not know Van Halen, but this young gun certainly bloody does.

Those four join artists including Vanessa Amorosi, Didirri, and Montaigne on the roster.

Eurovision – Australia Decides will take place on the Gold Coast next year, with the live final broadcast on Saturday February 8.
