My windows were up. So were hers. It didn’t matter. To this day, it remains the loudest music I have ever heard from someone else’s vehicle. Genuinely bone-shaking.

All of this is to say Adele is a phenomenal vocalist, but the power of her music surpasses the charts and Grammys dominance. Her music provides an emotional conduit, a pressure-release valve for when listeners are really going through it. But whose guidance does Adele seek in emotionally heightened circumstances? Which pop culture figure can she turn to for solace when her own relationship comes to an end?
The answer is Adele. Taking to Instagram for the first time since news of her split from husband Simon Konecki emerged, the British singer posted a telling meme:
The image gives a pretty decent representation of the persona Adele presents on wax, versus her penchant for rapping along to Nicki Minaj. That second image was sourced from Adele’s appearance on Carpool Karaoke, when she went ahead and spat Minaj’s verse from Kanye West’s Monster. It’s definitely the kind of energy one can only dream of possessing at the tail-end of a seven-year relationship:
Maybe, just maybe, some of that rapping prowess will emerge on her next record.
