Queen of the power ballad Adele has split with her husband Simon Konecki after seven years together, according to her representatives.
An emailed statement sent on Friday, US time, said:
Adele and her partner have separated. They are committed to raising their son together lovingly. As always they ask for privacy. There will be no further comment.
The pair had son Angelo in 2012, and were married in 2016. Adele has always been private about their relationship, only revealing that she and Konecki had got married during her 2017 Grammy acceptance speech.
The music star is obviously going to be going through a difficult time at the moment, and we wish her all the best.
But meanwhile, on the internet, Adele’s legions of fans have only one thing on their minds: the inevitable break-up album that’s gonna emerge out of all of this. Twitter is absolutely awash with memes.

Just saw where Adele and her husband are no longer together and while that’s really sad, I’m SO looking forward to crying on the floor in the fetal position to her next album you guys.

Very awkward moment when you feel bad Adele and her husband separated, but kind of hoping it leads to new music. #Adele pic.twitter.com/QLN3AOHyLT

Adele is getting a divorce. Sam Smith’s ex is living with Richard Madden. Now all we need is for someone to ghost Sufjan Stevens and the divine trinity of sadness will be in perfect alignment to restore depression to its former glory!!!!

Questlove, for one, is not impressed by this brazen hype for what will most likely be a super sad album.

But can you blame ’em? Almost nothing compares to the genuine pleasure of recreational crying to Adele’s beautiful, heartbroken tones. This record is gonna rule.
