Some of you, mostly non-genius types, might promote your upcoming TV series by releasing footage that strikes a delicate balance between teasing certain plot elements and keeping major story points obfuscated in order to lure people based on the vague promise of what’s to come. But Netflix, big brains, is subverting all that by promoting the upcoming third season of Stranger Things with a criminally horny teaser clip and not much else.
With Winter now well and truly over on HBO, the streaming giant is promoting the imminent arrival of summer by dropping a new Stranger Things teaser that features no major plot development, very little character growth, and showcases an apparent bevvy of wildly horny Hawkins Mums.
That’s it. That’s the whole teaser.
It’s Billy Hargrove, strutting his year 11 gym class rig around a public pool, overtly hitting on The Toey Housewives of Hawkins.
Now, of course, nothing is pointless and everything has meaning to it. So it’s possible that this is crucial information hiding in plain sight. There is speculation and several theories that assert Billy could play a much larger role in the third season – some suggest he could even be the season’s Big Bad.
But until the season arrives in a little over a month’s time, we’ll just have to wait and see.
Stranger Things season three arrives on Netflix on July 4.
