Shane Warne, ex-cricketer, media personality, and Australia’s pre-eminent bachelor, has refuted claims he’s going to be the Bachelor.
After New Idea published its culture-defining claim that the 48-year-old is in the final stages of settling a contract to appear on the dating show, the bloke took to Twitter to clarify his actual position.
In short, it’s bullshit. In full, it’s very bullshit.
Once AGAIN “No Idea” has completely made up a story about me being the new bachelor ! This is hurtful to me & my children as it’s total lies

Ps I have not had one conversation with anyone about this. How can they continue to print lies about me, make up stories & get away with it?

In its first piece on the topic, New Idea cited an unnamed source within the Channel 10 hierarchy who claimed Warne was gearing up to find love on the program.
The report also explicitly mentioned the fact Warne was supposedly working to ensure “his kids – Brooke, Jackson and Summer – are happy with the extra publicity that will surround them all.” His tweets suggest that last claim is particularly onerous.
Elsewhere, there’s speculation The Bachelorette cast-off Apollo Jackson is kinda keen to secure the spot. With Warne a no-go, we can safely walk back from the edge of annihilation; seeing the young magician give love another crack would be far more familiar than whatever madness a Warnie season would provide.
