Shane Warne has released a statement regarding the allegation he hit a woman in the face at a London nightclub, claiming police have cleared him of any wrongdoing.
The 48-year-old former cricketer was interviewed by Met Police over claims he struck Valerie Fox, 30, during an alleged altercation at Lou Lou’s nightclub on Saturday evening.
Speaking to The Sun, witnesses to the alleged incident described seeing the pair argue before Fox collapsed, holding her face.
Taking to Twitter, Warne wrote “I was shocked to read the media stories circulating earlier today concerning a false allegation of assault.”
I have fully co-operated with the police, and they have now had the opportunity of seeing CCTV and speaking to witnesses. The police have confirmed to me that I have been cleared of the allegation and that no further action will be taken. This is now the end of the matter.

Scotland Yard confirmed that a man matching Warne’s age had been interviewed “under caution” over the alleged incident, and “has since been released with no further action to be taken.”
A police spokesperson said the man was not under arrest at any time.
Earlier, Fox posted to Twitter, saying she was “traumatised by tonight’s events.” She also shared a photo of her police report, and another showing a bruise on her face.
Absolutely traumatised by tonight’s events, being a victim of assault is horrible and I thank the @metpoliceuk for their help & support.

And no, I’m not lying. Just because you’re famous doesn’t mean you can hit women and get away with it. pic.twitter.com/dk7PPhTiCg
