Nick Cummins, otherwise known as the Honey Badger, has done his first and only interview about *that* Bachelor Australia final.

The Badger and the final four women – Brittany, Sophie, Brooke, and Cass spoke to Lisa Wilkinson on The Sunday Project.

In as very little words as possible, the Badger left Brittany and Soph heartbroken when he decided to reject both women in the final episode. A majority of Aussies were just a tad shocked and upset while others thought it a refreshing ending and commended Nick for doing what’s right for him.

The interview, which was filmed before the final episode aired on Network Ten, kicked off with the moment Nick knew neither women were the right ones for him.

“It hit me with the thunderbolt,” he told Lisa explaining that if he couldn’t tell either women that he was in love with them then “why would I start something with someone?”

Understandably, a lot of people threw hate at Nick wondering why he would sign up to a dating show if he wasn’t ready for commitment in the first place. However, as he told Lisa, Nick genuinely thought he was at the beginning.

“You can think you can know what you want and then someone comes into your life, and then your view of what you thought you wanted gets absolutely blown right out the window,” he said. “Why would I start something that has a high potential of, three months down the track, breaking her heart. I’d rather make a hard decision at that point to save a big scar on the heart later.”

As for how Britt feels, she said it simply: “I thought Nick was it”.

And Sophie?

“I literally lose words,” she said trying to explain her feelings for Nick post-filming.

“I think it shocks us,” Soph said earlier in the interview. “[The Bachelor] is whether you can find someone you can connect with and then you try it in the real world later. The fact that he couldn’t see enough with one girl in 28 still shocks us.”

Brooke and Cass said they still have soft spots for the rugby player but ultimately, don’t have strong feelings for him anymore.

For Cass, it was watching her final rose ceremony that helped the healing process.

Interestingly, Lisa asked Nick if Brooke was the one that got away – something a lot of viewers believed.

“There’s somethings left unsaid, she got away on that regard but I wouldn’t change it. I want what’s best for her and I want her to be happy.”

In true Nick ‘Honey Badger’ Cummins style, the 31-year-old said he wouldn’t do a single thing differently if given the chance.

“To all the girls who went through a lot stuff, I just want you all to know – if I ever see you again I’d buy you a drink and say ‘hello’ for old times’ sake.”

Naturally…
