The Duchess of Sussex spoke on an International Women’s Day panel last Friday where she gave a passionate speech about feminism.
Take a nice long sip of the tall glass of water that is her view on women’s rights:
I’ve said for a long time, you can be feminine and a feminist. You can be masculine [and a feminist], and I think in terms of masculinity you understand that your strength includes knowing your vulnerability. And your sense of self and security, your confidence, comes in knowing that a woman by your side, not behind you, is actually something you shouldn’t be threatened about, but as opposed to that, you should feel really empowered in having that additional support. That this is really about us working together, that’s what gender equality means to me. And having men part of that conversation to say there’s nothing threatening about a woman coming up to the same level, it’s our safety in numbers. This is our power and strength as a team.
She ended her speech by bringing her hubby into the discussion, telling the crowd that he very much fits into this category.
“So I hope that men are part of that conversation. My husband certainly is!”

Meghan also revealed that she wants her bubba to be a feminist, joking that she’d seen a documentary in which a pregnant woman said she felt “the embryonic kicking of feminism,” and adding, “I loved that, so boy or girl, whatever it is, we hope that’s the case.”
