Student Who Hugged Meghan Markle Wrote Harry A Cheeky Letter Saying Sorry About It

In a bit of a HEHE, a student has written a letter to Prince Harry, apologising for “cuddling your wife”. It was all in jest of course, after Meghan Markle surprised a school in east London ahead of International Women’s Day.

Captured on video, Meghan asked the students of Robert Cack Upper School “if there is one brave young man in this room who wants to come and say what he thinks the importance of International Women’s Day is”. And up popped Head Boy Aker Okoye.

“She really is beautiful, innit?” Aker said when he reached the podium. “I had to say that, I had to speak the truth here.”

After his speech, Meghan and Aker hugged prompting the 16-year-old to handwrite a letter to Prince Harry in apology.

“Harry, hope you don’t mind me writing this letter. I hope you didn’t mind me cuddling your wife,” he wrote. “I was just overwhelmed and shocked to see her at my school. It was a pleasure to hear her speech and to speak in front of her as well.”

Meghan had passionately spoken about gender and racial equality to the students. She explained that she brought a male student on stage because she wants young men “to continue to value and appreciate the women in your lives, and also set the example for some men who are not seeing it that same way.”

“You have your mothers, sisters, girlfriends, friends in your life – protect them. Make sure that they are feeling valued and safe,” she said.
