Britney Spears posted a long rant on Instagram post today, calling out her dad Jamie Spears and sister Jamie-Lynn Spears. This is now the second time the singer has openly spoken about the conservatorship on social media.
On Sunday, Spears declared that she wouldn’t be performing on stage as long as her dad remained as her conservator, essentially quitting music.
“For those of you who choose to criticise my dancing videos … look I’m not gonna be performing on any stages anytime soon with my dad handling what I wear, say, do, or think,” she wrote on Instagram.
Spears continued: “I’ve done that for the past 13 years … I’d much rather share videos YES from my living room instead of onstage in Vegas.”
The ‘Toxic’ singer also called out Jamie-Lynn for performing remixed versions of her songs and accepting awards on her behalf.
“I don’t like that my sister showed up at an awards show and performed MY SONGS to remixes !!!!! My so-called support system hurt me deeply,” Spears said.
“My so-called support system hurt me deeply !!!! This conservatorship killed my dreams … so all I have is hope and hope is the only thing in this world that is very hard to kill … yet people still try.”
Other celebrities showed their support for the star, like Paris Hilton, Snooki and Selma Blair.
“Yes live your life beautiful. You deserve your happiness,” Paris Hilton wrote.
“Speak your truth queen!!! You can come perform in my living room any say,” Snooki commented.
Speaking in court last Wednesday, via phone, Spears said her dad should be charged with “conservatorship abuse” and wants him investigated.
“If that’s not abuse, I don’t know what is.”
Britney Spears was previously represented by court-appointed lawyer Samuel D. Ingham III, who asked the court to resign him. He has now been replaced by a lawyer of Spears’ choice, Mathew Rosengart.
Rosengart has represented a slew of Hollywood A-listers, including Keanu Reeves, Steven Spielberg, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
