Sorry Folks, You Can’t Buy Big Mac Sauce In Aussie Supermarkets Just Yet

As the good brother Aaron Gocs once so famously said, this fine country was built on stitch-ups.
And if there’s one place that loves a good stitch-up more than the workplace, it’s the internet.
A Facebook post that has exploded all over the online this afternoon appears to be relaying the joyous news that the precious, golden Big Mac Sauce, along with a range of other Maccas secret sauces, are now available in bottle form at Coles supermarkets across the country.

The photo has been picked up by media outlets already, including 7 News Perth who whacked it up online without giving it a second thought.
Unfortunately, all is not as it seems. We here at the PEDESTRIAN.TV investigative journalism unit have done the sleuthing necessary to uncover the truth: That someone on the internet is having a lend.
The first clue that that photo is a red herring comes in the form of the Kraft logo. On paper, it seems all above-board and fine. Further investigation however reveals that the Australian Kraft logo is stylised in all-caps:
The logo present in that photo looks a lot closer to the Canadian Kraft logo. Observe:
But that’s not all, your honour.
Second to that is, in the above photo, the McChicken sauce labels are written in both English and French.
Something they love to do in… CANADA.
Canadians are currently enjoying a utopia-like society where Mac Sauces can be freely plucked from supermarket shelves, thanks to McDonald’s Canada introducing the good stuff to retailers back in March.

As far as we’re concerned that’s evidence enough to declare this particular internet bamboozle well and truly DEBUNKED.
Australia has, of course, enjoyed the odd occasion where Mickey D’s has released limited runs of the good stuff for a select few lucky customers to get all up in. But Canada’s permanent release of Big Mac Sauce, McChicken Sauce, and Filet-O-Fish Sauce in retail bottles is an anomaly.
There you have it, folks. Don’t go rushing out to your local Coles tonight. It’s a well-crafted stitch-up.
Still, the market’s ready and waiting for you, Maccas.
Ball is in your court.
