Twenty-two-year-old Aussie model Duckie Thot – born and raised in Melbourne, the daughter of South Sudanese refugees – today had the purest reaction to the news she was about to join the ranks of the Victoria’s Secret Angels: she lost her shit.

As you can see, she screams, she runs, she jumps around, she’s hugging everyone, she is all of your excited, bubbly feelings about good news jammed into one very beautiful moment.

Everyone in the room is applauding her, feeding off her excitement, congratulating her for making it to the top of the modelling game, and our girl Duckie is still freaking out: “This is fucken crazy! Oh shit! Wow, I can’t believe it.”

Thot rose to prominence in the industry as the second runner-up on the eighth season of Australia’s Next Top Model in 2013. After undertaking some work locally, including for Aussie brand Bec + Bridge, she moved to New York to pursue modelling as a career, making her NY runway debut for Yeezy in 2016.
Thot’s since appeared in campaigns for Fenty x Puma, Fenty Beauty, Moschino and Oscar de la Renta, as well as on far too many magazine covers to list. She also starred as Alice in Pirelli‘s 2018 all-PoC Alice in Wonderland-themed calendar, alongside RuPaul, Lupita Nyong’o and Whoopi Goldberg.
The glamorous Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is expected in late November or early December, and who knows where it’ll be? Previous events have been held in cities like LA, Paris, London and Shanghai, and have featured the top models of the day, like Tyra Banks, Heidi Klum, Gisele Bündchen, Adriana Lima, Karlie Kloss and our very own Miranda Kerr. Previous musical performances have included the likes of JT, T Swift, Fall Out Boy, Ariana Grande, The Weeknd and Harry Styles. WHO WILL GRACE THE STAGE THIS YEAR?
