HEY LONG WEEKENDERS: The Weather Forecast Just Got Upgraded To Fkn Glorious

Before we begin here, we cannot stress this enough: It is Spring. The weather can turn on a dime. One day might be forecast to be a pleasant 19 degrees with some light cloud and then BAM: It’s raining knives out of nowhere.

That being said, it might be bloody time to blow the cobwebs out of your shorts, because the weather forecast for this upcoming long weekend just took a hell of an upswing.
Earlier this morning various news outlets were reporting doom and gloom for the next few days, with a complex cold front crossing over the Great Australian Bight to bring heavy rain, thunderstorms, and even snow to parts of Victoria.
But as is custom with all things weather, it now seems that that might have been a false alarm.
The Bureau of Meteorology has upgraded all its weather forecasts for those states enjoying a long weekend this weekend (South Australia, Victoria, New South Wales, and the ACT), and while the remaining few days of the week are gonna be a bit wet and cold, once the weekend hits things are gonna get good in a big hurry.
PEDESTRIAN.TV spoke to Karis Arndt, a senior forecaster at the Bureau of Meteorology, who confirmed that though the weather initially looked like being miserable for most of the week, in Melbourne it now seems to be clearing up ahead of a decent Saturday and borderline glorious Sunday.
“What looked like being a very wet week for Melbourne has backed off a little bit in the last few days. It’s not quite as dismal as what it looked before.

This, naturally, bodes quite well for the upcoming Grand Final festivities, with both the Grand Final Parade and the game itself now set to escape the worst of the weather.

“Friday for the parade we’ll see some showers developing during the day, increasing into the evening. There’s still a chance that we’ll see more (rain), but the way things are evolving at the moment… it’s not looking too bad.”

It will be chilly on Friday, with a maximum of just 15 degrees forecast, but from Saturday onwards the weather appears to be turning. For Grand Final Day itself, the rain will largely be gone by morning’s end, with the game itself set to see clear weather and a top of 18 degrees.

But Sunday, oh boy, SUNDAY. How’s a nice, casual TWENTY THREE DEGREES strike you?
Melbourne is set to cop a mildly breezy but otherwise entirely wonderful 23 degree day, with light showers not expected to develop until late into the evening.
And the same goes for other states copping the more regular-style long weekend. Sydney in particular is set for a banger of a time, with clear skies and maximums of 22, 27, and 28 set for Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, with only a slight chance of a late shower on Monday evening forecast.
Over in Canberra some bone-chilling temperatures on Friday will make way for a reasonably pleasant weekend, with sunny periods forecast for the bulk of proceedings and tops of 14, 20, and 16 set to see them through the weekend.
Meanwhile in Adelaide, there’s similar conditions to Melbourne expected, with a few scattered showers providing occasional punctuation to a mostly clear weekend of 22, 23, and 16 from Saturday til Monday.
DAT SUNDAY THO.
Break out yer pasty white pegs, friends. It’s time to air out yer gams.
It us.
