‘Dexter’ Spinoff Highly Likely As Showtime Aims to Keep Franchise Alive

Among the hysteria of Breaking Bad, lately, the final season of another impeccable show, Dexter, appears to have caught less internet heart palpitations than it rightly deserves. After all, when you’ve got a Dad who expertly murders people for fun, making meth in an RV seems kind of lame in comparison.

Dexter’s final episode of its intense eighth season will go to air tomorrow local time, putting an end to one of the most innovative stories television has had the pleasure to screen. But with the series reaching a close and its exceptional opening credit sequence playing out for one last time, it doesn’t look like it’s time to let go of everyone’s favourite, most loveable serial killing serial killer with a moral compass.
Like Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead, a spinoff to Dexter seems likely as Showtime Entertainment’s president David Nevins said, “I hope that whatever we do will feel both original and in keeping with what people expect out of Dexter,” and added, “We spend a lot of time talking about how we keep the show alive, so it may be a more complicated original idea than just a spinoff.”
While some of the key cast and crew speculated on who the spinoff project would involved, most tended to hedge their bets on a foul-mouthed Deb and Sleaze-King Quinn to take centre stage on the project; However Michael C Hall summed up our feelings on the issue, saying that, “It would star Masuka, that’s all I know for sure.” YES.
