Showtime Confirm “Dexter” Season 8 Will Be The Last

The serial killer killing serial killers mega hit, Dexter, will wrap after the 8th season, presumably because there are no more bad dudes in Florida left to kill. Showtime dropped the news to the show’s 13 million fans via Facebook this morning.

When it debuted in 2006, ‘Dexter’ redefined the genre, by taking the
anti-hero to new heights and pushing the boundaries of the television
landscape
,” Matthew C. Blank, chairman and CEO of Showtime Networks Inc,
said in a statement. “‘Dexter’ paved the way for the next generation of
award-winning hit Showtime series, and its cultural impact will be felt
for years to come.

Season 8 will pick up from Season 7’s WTF boil-over finale, so yes, Dexter is still smack bang in the middle of an identity revealing shitstorm. With 12 episodes remaining until we find out whether our favorite extermination expert will sink or swim, fans can expect some gut wrenchingly tense good times ahead.

[SPOILER ALERT] – It seems Debra still has a bee in her bonnet after discovering Dexter was a serial killer and murdering her boss. Get over it gurl. Watch the teaser below.
