Channing Tatum & Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s R-Rated Musical Just Got Spicier

If you’re looking at this as a pure mathematical equation, Channing Tatum + Joseph Gordon-Levitt + R-Rated Musical should equal “take my money immediately.” A film like this has gotta rate among the shortest successful Hollywood pitches ever, right behind the fabled “Arnold Schwarzenegger. Danny DeVito. Twins.
We know that Tatum and JGL have been circling involvement in some sort of raunchy, spicy musical for “grown ups” for a little while now, in a news yarn from the entertainment biz that sent many a tongue a-wagging.
Now we’ve got some all-new juicy details on the proposed home run of a flick, and it seems like JGL himself is keen to pull double-duty.
A Variety report states that Gordon-Levitt is now keen to not only star in the upcoming flick, but that he’s toying with the idea of directing it as well.
The film project, tentatively titled ‘Wingmen‘ at this point in time, follows Tatum and JGL as two pilots who crash-land in Las Vegas. Sources involved with the project are reportedly pitching it as “‘Pitch Perfect‘ meets ‘Book of Mormon.’” The pair would be covering current Top 100 hit songs with a “touch of adult humour.”
The film already has a pretty high comedic pedigree, with ‘21 Jump Street‘ scribe Michael Bacall behind the film’s concept and story, which sparked a bidding war among studios before it finally landed at Universal Pictures.
The chances of us seeing it anytime soon are fairly slim; Tatum’s dance card is particularly full for the time being, what with filming on froth-fest ‘Triple Frontier‘ with Tom Hardy set to begin imminently.
But C-Tates and JGL dancing and singing and swearing their butts off together? Yes please. Sign us up. Very interested.
