US Cops Actually ID’d A Theft Suspect Thanks To This Photorealistic Sketch

Police in the U.S. have correctly identified the suspect of a theft, thanks to what may be the jankiest sketch ever provided to law enforcement authorities.

Officers of Pennsylvania’s Lancaster Country Police Department have issued an arrest warrant for Hung Phuoc Nguyen, 44, after he allegedly pinched money from a market checkout when its attendant stepped away.

While the suspect was unknown to witnesses, one provided the police with details of the January 30 crime – and a hand-drawn picture of the alleged thief.

This is what authorities were presented with:

That image, along with a description of the suspect’s particular money-grabbing technique, actually helped authorities narrow down the list of potential thieves.

“While the sketch provided by the witness may have appeared amateurish and cartoonish, it, along with the distinctive physical descriptors, jogged the memory of at least one investigator to provide a potential suspect name,” police said in a statement.

The witness then positively identified an image of Nguyen from a photo array prepared by police.

Nguyen faces two charges of theft. The witness was not charged over their drawing skills.
