David Schwimmer is officially off the hook as police have identified the alleged suspect of a theft in Blackpool who went viral last week as he looks strikingly similar to the Friends star.

Lancs Police made the announcement via Twitter and dropped a classic Friends joke in the process:
“Could we BE any more overwhelmed with the response to our CCTV appeal about a theft at a restaurant in Blackpool? Most importantly, we’re now satisfied we’ve identified the man in the still & our enquiries are very much continuing. Huge thanks for sharing it with your friends.”

The emphasis of “BE” is an obvi reference to Chandler’s (Matthew Perry) catch phrase which his friends constantly mock throughout the ’90s/’00s sitcom.
After the pic started to do the ’rounds online, Schwimmer took to Twitter to clear his name by reenacting the surveillance footage in his native New York to prove that he was nowhere near Blackpool at the time of the incident and therefore could not possibly be responsible for the theft.
He tweeted:
“Officers, I swear it wasn’t me. As you can see, I was in New York. To the hardworking Blackpool Police, good luck with the investigation. #itwasntme.”

Not to worry Ross, looks like you’re off the hook.
