Today has been reasonably wild in Sydney, with a month’s worth of rain dumped on the city in the space of several hours, leading to widespread disruptions and flooding. One person is dead and at least nine are injured following the “once in a century” event.

Though conditions have improved throughout the day, it’s expected that it’s about to get bad again – with thunderstorms and possibly hail expected to drift back up over the city just in time for the evening commute.
Lots of rain so far in #NSW, still more to come along the coast. Highest recorded was 152 mm at Porters Creek Dam. Sydney Observatory Hill coming in with 105.6 mm. See the totals at https://t.co/MbCHeZKDqJ #rainyday #storms pic.twitter.com/LocPpFCKSW

It’s expected the next wave will hit hit at some point between 4pm and 8pm. Flash flooding, strong winds and possible hailstorms could affect Newcastle, Gosford, Sydney, Wollongong, Nowra and Katoomba.
It is likely that intense weather conditions will affect public transport as it did earlier in the day. Heavy rains caused cancellations and delays on trains, buses and light rail. Delays on buses stretched for up to 70 minutes.
What I’m saying is this: expect delays, and I hope you’ve got a sturdy umbrella.
