German Chocolate Brand ‘Super Dickmann’ Under Fire For Racist Meghan Markle Ad

Strap in, folks. There’s a lot to unpack in this one.

A German chocolate company is copping heat over a Facebook post celebrating the Royal Wedding that ah… look, there’s really no other way to interpret it other than being a little bit on-the-nose.

The company, very legitimately named Super Dickmann, which isn’t even the funniest part of this story, took to Facebook over the weekend and posted an image of their Schokokuss product – a chocolate-covered marshmallow type thing – decked out in a wedding gown and a tiara.

Yep.

The accompanying caption, “Ein Schaum in Weiß” translates to “A foam in white,” which is reportedly both a play on the confectionary’s foamy centre, and the phrase “a vision in white.”

Got it so far? Wonderful.

An ad from the mid-90s shows the Super Dickmann product in action; quite literally, they’re chocolate knobs.

You can’t see it (obviously) but I’m doing that thing where like… you know when John Oliver plays a ridiculous clip and he has to pause after it plays because he’s laughing too hard to continue?

That. I’m doing that, right now.

Quite rightfully, the post was pillared by people on the ole internet, pointing out the obvious that comparing Markle to a dark chocolate knob was a bit bloody racist.

Super Dickmann (chortle) subsequently issued a brief apology that read “A big pardon! The world of Super Dickmann’s is colourful and diverse and far from racist thoughts.

The world of Super Dickmann. Must be a hard place to get to.

That post was turfed altogether not long after that, with a company spokesman – a person, I assume, who acts as Dickmann’s mouth – stating the post was “stupid and embarrassing.

It should be noted that Super Dickmann’s make a variant of their standard knobs called Super Dickmann’s Dicke Nüsse, which look like… balls.

Ahhh what a good day for everyone.

Except Super Dickmann.
