Just In Case There Wasn’t Enough ‘Star Wars’, “Multiple” TV Series Are Coming

Following this morning’s news that the brains behind Game of Thrones are being given the keys to their very own series of Star Wars movies, Disney is making sure we know there’s a shedload more content coming at us from a galaxy far far away. CEO Bob Iger confirmed there are “multiple” series in the works for Disney’s upcoming streaming service.

In case you’ve already forgotten, Disney is aiming to release their own Netflix competitor in 2019 – which, considering the fact they’ve just hoovered up all of 20th Century Fox‘s assets – looks like it might be a pretty compelling option. A few Star Wars original series will almost certainly bring the punters to yet another new streaming service.

In an investor call, Iger confirmed that “a few Star Wars series specifically” were being developed for the streaming service, and that the “talent on the television front is significant.” An announcement should be incoming once a deal is finalised, Iger says, but confirms that fans would be pretty happy with the people they’ve been talking to.

This isn’t the first time Disney has confirmed they’ve been working on something Star Warsy for the new streaming service. Back in November, Iger confirmed that a Star Wars series was being worked on, along with TV shows based on the MarvelMonsters Inc and High School Musical universes.

Well, you’re certainly not going to be starved for Star Wars. Looks like you’re going to be getting quite a lot of content, every single year… possibly until the heat death of the universe. Enjoy!
