The Full ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ Trailer Is Here & It’s A… Heist Movie?

Finally! After a teaser during yesterday’s Super Bowl, the first trailer for Solo: A Star Wars Story has arrived, giving us a glimpse into Han Solo‘s (Alden Ehrenreich) life before he became a space legend.

“I’ve been running scams on the street since I was ten,” he says, in that classic world-weariness (galaxy-weariness?). “I was kicked out of the flight academy for having a mind of my own. I’m gonna be a pilot. Best in the galaxy.”

What this trailer doesn’t have: a chill-inducing shot of Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover) in fur coat. What it does have: the Millennium Falcon, looking all brand spankin’ fresh and new. What, it wasn’t always a hunk of space junk? News to me.

We’ve also got Woody Harrelson‘s character “putting together a crew”, which sounds delightfully ominous. We already know he’s a “criminal who [Solo] gets to know” and who has “influence” on him, so honestly, it looks like this is setting up to be a heist movie. A space heist movie. Are they stealing the Millennium Falcon?

For reference, here’s everything we already knew about the plot:

Board the Millennium Falcon and journey to a galaxy far, far away in Solo: A Star Wars Story, an all-new adventure with the most beloved scoundrel in the galaxy. Through a series of daring escapades deep within a dark and dangerous criminal underworld, Han Solo meets his mighty future copilot Chewbacca and encounters the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian, in a journey that will set the course of one of the Star Wars saga’s most unlikely heroes.

We also get more of a look at Emilia Clarke‘s mysterious Qi’ra. She appears to be some kind of love interest mixed with moral compass for Han.“I might be the only person who knows what you really are,” she says. He smirks – and this is our first, proper, close up look at his face (and it’s not even that well lit). Are they trying to hide him, or something?

“What’s that?” he says.

Ahem.

May 25, folks. Not long to go now before the endless opinions roll in.
