One Dead, Six Injured After Truck Veers Into Pedestrians In Inner Sydney

One person has died and six others have been injured after a truck veered into pedestrians in the Sydney suburb of Alexandria.

NSW Police responded to calls that a B-double drove into oncoming traffic before colliding with a power pole, a bus stop, and a building on Botany Rd shortly before 7:45am this morning.

The Sydney Morning Herald reports 12 ambulance crews and an emergency response helicopter were dispatched to the area.

The driver of the truck was freed from the vehicle shortly before 9am and is reportedly receiving medical attention at the scene.

Botany Rd has been closed between Bourke St and Epsom Rd as emergency responders attend to the scene. Drivers have been advised to avoid the area.
