This NZ Bloke Held A Neighbour’s Cat Hostage For 5 Days Thinking It Was His

Proving that the universe must always have a balance, we finally have a story to match last year’s mistaken pug identity yarn, with this New Zealand fella who accidentally took a neighbour’s cat hostage and drugged into submission, thinking it was his own.

The inadvertent cat thievery yarn comes via Twitter user Clarke Gayford who documented the story of his mate who, after noticing his black cat was acting abnormally, took it to the vet and was told to chuck some anti-anxiety meds down its throat, lock it in a room for 5 days and all should be sweet.

(Note to my GP, please prescribe this to me next time I come in with mild anxiety issues, please and thanks.)

It wasn’t until Day 5 however, that Clarke’s mate got a bit of a shock when he noticed his ACTUAL cat strolling into the house and bringing with it the epiphany the drugged up black kitty currently in his bedroom was in fact someone else’s.

Now I’m much more of a dog person, and those two cats do indeed look incredibly similar, but how do you NOT know your own pet from another? Surely you’d be familiar with its personality and characteristic marks and shape, no? Am I taking crazy pills right now?

Turns out the cat old mate took to the vet was his neighbours, oh and also, was a different bloody gender:

All’s well that end’s well in this particular case of feline abduction, with Clarkey’s mate’s cat back home safe and sound, and the neighbour’s having a chill time coming down from being zonked out of its little kitty mind on meds for a week:

If your pet sometimes goes for walkabouts and/or needs veterinary help often, best to look after it with some insurance. If you sign up to petinsurance.com.au by hitting the link HERE, we’ll hook you up with the first two months free. Just ’cause we like ya.
