Millie Bobby Brown Quits Twitter After Being Turned Into A Homophobic Meme

When it comes to the internet, no celebrity is safe from being meme’d, not even 14-year-old Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown.

The lil darlin’ has been the latest victim of violent meme culture and has deactivated her Twitter after a series of memes started doing the ’rounds that falsely attributed homophobic quotes to the star.

In the wake of the incident, she has also disabled comments on her Instagram posts.

The actress, who was one of the first recipients of MTV’s gender-neutral award last year, is a vocal anti-bullying advocate and LGBT rights supporter who has publicly voiced her support for GLAAD’s Together movement as well as Parkland shooting survivors.

It’s safe to assume that the tirade against Brown was timed to coincide with pride week in an effort to attack the young star’s character.

This isn’t the first time that Brown has been targeted by online trolls, mind you. Last November, similar images circulated the internet with homophobic and racist remarks attributed to the star using the #TakeDownMillieBobbyBrown hashtag.

Meanwhile, MBB’s fans have taken to Twitter to defend the LGBT rights activist.
