When it comes to the internet, no celebrity is safe from being meme’d, not even 14-year-old Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown.
The lil darlin’ has been the latest victim of violent meme culture and has deactivated her Twitter after a series of memes started doing the ’rounds that falsely attributed homophobic quotes to the star.
In the wake of the incident, she has also disabled comments on her Instagram posts.

The actress, who was one of the first recipients of MTV’s gender-neutral award last year, is a vocal anti-bullying advocate and LGBT rights supporter who has publicly voiced her support for GLAAD’s Together movement as well as Parkland shooting survivors.
It’s safe to assume that the tirade against Brown was timed to coincide with pride week in an effort to attack the young star’s character.
This isn’t the first time that Brown has been targeted by online trolls, mind you. Last November, similar images circulated the internet with homophobic and racist remarks attributed to the star using the #TakeDownMillieBobbyBrown hashtag.
Meanwhile, MBB’s fans have taken to Twitter to defend the LGBT rights activist.
Millie Bobby Brown deactivated because people were making homophobic jokes about her even though she’s not homophobic.

how do y’all find the “millie bobby brown is homophobic” meme funny? she’s a 14 year old girl who’s done nothing to deserve these jokes being made about her. the internet has made y’all messed up and tasteless.

Yet another person quits social media because some people don’t have a sliver of human decency. Millie Bobby Brown is a sweet young lady. Those of you spamming her with memes making fun of her and saying she’s homophobic, I hope you feel like absolute shit for picking on a child.

This is sickening. Whether it was made by the LGBT community or not why the hell would you make memes portraying a teen saying horrific stuff she didn’t? That’s not a joke assholes.

Another actor forced off social media by harassment. We need to expand #ForceOutHate beyond the Star Wars #KellyMarieTran issue and support people like #MillieBobbyBrown from trolls and online targeting. It’s time to #ForceOutHate from our fan communities! https://t.co/Th08VLSCBg
