First lady Melania Trump – who is definitely 100% still alive and perfectly OK after having not been seen in public for around 24 days – will be giving the G7 summit in Quebec this week a miss and will not be travelling with Trump to Singapore for his meeting with Kim Jong-un, a spokesperson has told FOX News.
According to The Guardian, CNN, and Politico, the first lady’s last appearance was on May 10th, just before she entered hospital for treatment for a kidney condition. This has caused some consternation regarding her wellbeing – something that the White House‘s attempts to address haven’t really, well… addressed.
As the Washington Post pointed out, Trump’s go at quelling suspicion was somewhat odd:
According to a pool report, President Trump responded by pointing to a window in the White House residence, and said: “She’s doing great. She’s looking at us right there.”
Reporters turned to look at the spot he indicated, but there was no sign of the first lady.
Last week, Melania herself said that she’s doing absolutely fine, in a tweet with a cadence remarkably similar to the very strange and idiosyncratic way Trump styles his tweets – but, hey, I guess that’s what happens when you spend a lot of time together:
I see the media is working overtime speculating where I am & what I’m doing. Rest assured, I’m here at the @WhiteHouse w my family, feeling great, & working hard on behalf of children & the American people!

Her spokesperson Stephanie Grisham told CNN that the first lady plans to make a public appearance on Monday night America time, finally putting to bed rumours that she is currently being replaced by an android or that she fell into some sort of alien portal deep in Area 51.
