This time, it’s Markle’s dad in the unflattering spotlight. Thomas Markle was supposed to walk Meghan down the aisle at her wedding to Prince Harry, but had to miss it as he was undergoing heart surgery.
OR WAS HE?
According to a “close friend” of Meghan’s, Markle the elder actually faked his illness as an excuse to get out of turning up to the wedding.
Now, this is all reported by the Daily Mail, so take it with a large grain of salt, BUT – apparently Thomas Markle told TV show Good Morning Britain that he’d had his surgery at Sharp Chula Vista Medical Centre in Tijuana, Mexico, in May.
But according to the Mail, that clinic says “no such name” had ever been checked in.
Of course, the bloke could have checked in under a fake name (could he? they do it in movies), but the Mail’s source is adamant he was telling big porkies.
The whole story about Meghan’s father undergoing heart surgery was made up. He had to come up with a good enough reason not to attend her wedding and avoid any further embarrassment after those staged photos went public.
(They’re referring here to paparazzi photos that Thomas reportedly staged as a sympathy ploy.)
Things are reportedly pretty icy between the new Duchess of Sussex and her possibly-fibbing dad. As for us, frankly, keep this nonsense coming – she’s such a loveable angel that the contrast to her absurd family is absolutely riveting.
