A lot of you will probably remember musical comedy trio The Axis of Awesome from their viral hit “4 Chord Song,” which stitched together just about every pop song under the sun into one glorious medley that showcased the only four chords you’ll ever need to become a pop star.
Fans of the act have noticed in recent times that lead performer Jordan Raskopoulos has appeared without the once-trademark beard.
Turns out there’s been a very good reason for that.
In a wonderful video post made earlier today, Jordan revealed the she is, in fact, a transgender woman, revealing she has already begun the transition and has commenced her new life living as a woman.
Raskopolous, who will now be known as Jordan Nicola Bridget Raskopoulos, revealed she has been struggling with gender dysphoria for her entire life, but was worried about reconciling her gender identity with her public one – one that has her pursuing her life and career on stage, entertaining people.
But after taking solace in the trail blazed by other trans* performers such as Lana Wachowski and Laura Jane Grace, Jordan felt the time right to let the public know.
And let us know she did, in magnificent, glorious fashion.
In her own words, “I am going to continue doing exactly what I was before, and I’m gonna be fucking awesome.”
