Google Reveals What We Really Searched For In 2014

The mighty Internet overlords over at Google have just completed their Annual Thing Where We Try And Convince Our Users That We Aren’t Just Here To Harvest Their Data For The Benefit Of Third Parties, or as it’s less formally known, A Year In Search.

Because they have the ability to drill down data like Western Australians in a mine, Google can throw out some pretty interesting observations about our behaviour as viewed through the prism of the The Internet’s front door. You know, like the fact that we searched ‘Iggy Azealia’ more than our favourite beaches, as we tried to figure out just where the hell Mullumbimby actually is. Or that ‘Jared Leto instagram’ spiked more than his Wikipedia or IMDB page. (Calm down, everyone.)
Perhaps the most illuminating are the end of year trending lists by category. ‘Strayans proved themselves to be search savants when it came to asking all the right questions, as evidenced in the top 5 in this list below.
Also big points for ‘Digital Lingo’, in which we proved that we really are a bunch of sex pests that like drinking and passing it on while staring at goats.
