Coalition For Marriage Without Venue After Casino Cans Their Anti-SSM Gig

The foremost group campaigning for ‘No’ in the ongoing same-sex marriage postal survey, the Coalition For Marriage, have been left without a venue days before they were supposed to hold a big event at a Hobart casino.

The campaign gig was set to supposedly host 600 ‘No’ supporters amidst speakers including Australian Christian Lobby head Lyle Shelton, Australian Conservatives Senator Cory Bernardi and some apparent “Facebook sensation” weirdly nicknamed “Political Posting Mumma”, who sounds like a real laugh and a half.

Fees for the event had allegedly been paid when the hosting venue Wrest Point Casino informed organisers the rooms were no longer available.

Speaking to ABC News, the Coalition’s Monica Doumit says it’s left them scrambling with two days to find a new site:

It doesn’t make a lot of sense, it’s possible two other events booked in over the last few days, but I don’t know.

All they would say is that the venue was not available, and offered a full refund.

Ms Doumit reckons the group is confident they’ll find an alternative venue, and the $10 a pop tickets are still advertised as on sale.

Our deepest condolences to whatever Hobart venue ends up having to host them.
