WOT: Cory Bernardi Thinks The ‘No’ Campaign Was An ‘Extraordinary Success’

Fucking old mate, Senator Cory Bernardi, has made a speech on the SSM vote in which he’s somehow decided the ‘No’ campaign was a success.

Dude. You lost. YOU LOST.

His literal words, spoken to the Australian Christian Lobby‘s national conference in Sydney on Saturday, weren’t even just “it was good”, they were “extraordinary success”.

His argument? The fact that almost 40 percent of participants voted ‘no’, against what he coins a “10 year campaign” by SSM supporters who had “tens of millions of dollars” in funding.

While his statement is, well, very “what mate?” – it’s important to note that there are still very active ‘No’ campaigners out there, and the fight is absolutely not over when it comes to legalising same-sex marriage.

“You have established an amazing base, you have some wonderful leaders, you have some extraordinary technology and you have it all in the palm of your hands,” Bernardi told the conference. “We can no longer be silent, we can no longer sit back and rely on prayer to change the course of earthly events.”

It’s quite chilling (if a bit sore losery) and very much a sign that we need to be fighting even harder to ensure our win from the plebiscite does actually lead to the legalisation of same-sex marriage.
