Woman Calls 911 After 1.7M Snake She Rescued Clamps Around Her Neck

A woman in the United States was forced to call 911 after the snake she’d rescued the day before decided to clamp itself around her neck.

She told the emergency operator that the 1.7-metre boa constrictor had attached itself to her neck and that there was “blood everywhere”.

“Help, please,” she says in the now-released 911 phone call. “I have a boa constrictor stuck to my face.”

“Ma’am, you have a what?” the operator replies in disbelief.

“A boa constrictor,” she says, and then says something in a panicked tone that I cannot for the life of me make out.

“You’re outside with a boa constrictor stuck to your face?” the operator confirms.

“Yes. I rescued it just yesterday. Please–”

“Ma’am I’ve notified the ambulance and the police department. So the boa constrictor has a hold of your nose?”

“Yes.”

“Can you pry its jaw open?”

“No, I’m trying… there’s blood everywhere.”

“Its jaw won’t open?”

“Nooo.”

The ABC reports that the woman, who lives just outside of Cleveland, Ohio, owns nine ball pythons, and had rescued two boa constrictors the day before. (The report didn’t suggest where she’d rescued the snakes from.) In a *shocking* turn of fate, one of the snakes she’d rescued decided to turn on her. Wild animals, huh?

The news website also spoke to a couple of the woman’s neighbours, one of whom basically did nothing to hide his schadenfreude at the women’s misfortune.

“I was in shock,” said local Steve Kosman, who said he’d seen the woman walking around the local park with snakes draped around her neck. “I mean, it was right next to my mother-in-law’s house so it was like it was right there. Maybe she’ll get rid of them now.”

Respondents arrived within minutes, and a firefighter cut the snake’s head off with a pocket knife; the woman was plonked in the back of an ambulance and transported to the hospital for treatment.
