It’s December, which means it’s officially “fuuuuuark it’s hot” weather. And if you’re one of the millions of Australians who aren’t blessed with an air-conditioner, the heat is a few short weeks from truly just ruining your damn life. But all hope is not lost because Aldi (the cheapo gods) is slinging a portable air conditioning unit next weekend to save you from sweating your butt off.
Saturday December 12’s Special Buys catalogue is filled to the brim with home goods like bath towels, mattress protectors and robo-vacs. But in my humble opinion, the real winner here is the portable AC.
The 2.7kW Portable Air Conditioner will set you back $349 and comes with a 3-in-1 function that will cool, fan and dehumidify your home quicker than you can say “fuck me dead, it’s hot.”
It also comes with Wi-Fi (for reasons still unclear to me) and works with Google Assistant. I assume this means you can turn it on when you’re not home, which is great if you’re coming home from an afternoon at the pub and don’t want to be cooked alive the second you walk through the front door.
According to the website, the portable AC can cool rooms up to 20m2 and comes on wheels for easy transportation between rooms. So basically, you can keep cool in any room of your house.
The device also comes with a three-year warranty, which is really bloody good for any tech device. That means you’ve got at *least* three years of guaranteed coolness before you’re back to sweating your ass off.
In addition to cooling your air, Aldi is also flogging the fancy-schmancy Samsung Air Purifier for just $299.
Obviously, my fingers are crossed that this bushfire season won’t leave us all gasping for air like last year. But if you’re keen to keep your air fresh and clean all summer long, you can pick one up on the 12th too.
