Adelaide’s Temperature Could Hit 45+ On Thursday Which Is Too Many Degrees

Mates, it is gonna be FUCKEN HOT this week, absolutely no doubt about it. But as far as Adelaide is concerned, it’s gonna be so goddamned hot that it could actually be a new record.

The Bureau of Meteorology is warning that Adelaide could well set a new all-time heat record on Thursday, with the forecast calling for heat that could easily exceed 45 degrees.

Currently, the BoM is forecasting a high of 44 on Thursday, but officials at the Bureau are preparing to upgrade that to a high of 45, with the possibility of the mercury soaring even higher a distinct possibility.

In fact, the all-time heat record for the city could be in jeopardy, which would topple the previous mark set 80 years ago.

The South Australian capital’s current all-time record was set in West Terrace in 1939, with a high of 46.1. Bureau forecasters are warning that could be bested come Thursday.

Thursday will be the third day in a row that the State Emergency Service will have issued an Extreme Heat Warning for Adelaide, following similar warnings for today and Wednesday which carried forecast top temperatures of 37 and 39 respectively.

Health officials in South Australia have warned residents that this week’s heatwave will be more severe than last week’s, which saw four consecutive days of 40+ degree temperatures.

The slightly better news is that Friday will see a “cool” change sweep across the city, with a balmy 33 degrees expected. The temperature will then mercifully dip below 30 as the weekend hits.

Best of luck to ya, Adelaide mates. Keep a Farmer’s Union or two on ice that day, hey.
