Zooey Deschanel Embraces Groupies

Sorry guys, that title might be a bit misleading. As evidenced by the unanswered fan mail I sent a few Summers back, Zooey Deschanel probably doesn’t embrace her own groupies. She is however, more than willing to appear in shows about groupies. So set that mixtape down and dry those puppy dog eyes on your slightly-too-small cardigan because Ms. Deschanel is already betrothed to a far more successful version of you.

But back to the groupie project. As you know, Deschanel first rose to prominence as the worldly older sister in Cameron Crowe’s groupie-embracing Almost Famous. Now, at the opposite side of the promiscuity spectrum, the pixie dreamboat is set to star in and Produce an HBO pilot based on I’m With the Band: Confessions of a Groupie the memoirs of notorious “band-aid” Pamela Des Barres. According to Deadline Hollywood Deschanel will Co-Produce the pilot with Curb Your Enthusiasm Executive Producer Tim Gibbons but a general release date is currently unknown.

We’d watch Deschanel do anything, but we’re particularly excited to see her shed that dowdy, quirky girl persona. You know, for the sake of range not for the crazy orgy scenes with phallic guitars and leather hot pants that will surely ensue. We’re also interested to see who HBO will cast as Jimmy Page, Keith Moon, Mick Jagger and Jim Morrison – just some of the icons Des Barres counts among her sexual conquests.
