Zooey Deschanel Out-Zooey Deschaneled Herself With Her Baby’s Name

Zooey Deschanel – she of the bangs and the Etsy wet dream – has at last revealed the name she and husband Jacob Pechenkif gave their new baby girl, and it’s suitably, utterly off-beat.

It’s Otter. Specifically, Elsie Otter. “Like the animal!” she explained. A “sea otter!” he elaborated helpfully. 

OH GOOD LORD YOU TWO ARE JUST TOO CUTE TO HANDLE.

“We just really liked the name Elsie and then we both love otters – they’re very sweet and they’re also smart,” Zooey said on Today. “They use tools, they hold hands while they sleep, there’s so many amazing things about otters.”
