Foo Fighters are all up in Australia’s grill this week.
Not only did they announce two charity benefits for Brisbane and Christchurch, but they’ve managed to turn a brief promo tour into the biggest media frenzy Sydney has ever seen. On Thursday they played a mammoth 3 hr set on Goat Island, which included a complete run through their new album Wasting Light, recorded with Nirvana producer Butch Vig. Less than twelve hours later they were announcing another surprise club gig at Sydney Uni’s Manning Bar, which they blew to pieces last night.
After 16 years in the biz, Dave Grohl and co. have some pretty hefty skeletons to get out of their closet, which is probably why they decided to get Oscar-winning producer James Moll to make an in-depth movie about them. The official trailer for Back & Forth has been released, so you can crank that shit up and learn why many people really resented the nicest guy in rock for starting a new band. No release date yet for Australia, but it premiered at SxSW last week and went down a treat so expect distribution here soon.
