Stop RN Thnx V Much: Survey Confirms Who The Most Popular Spice Girl Is

Baby Spice, obvs.

If you were but a wee cherub in the ’90s, you recall the greatest girl band to ever exist: the Spice Girls. You probably also recall being on the school playground arguing over who got to play which Spice Girl in your faithful recreation of the ‘Stop‘ music video – if my memory serves me correctly, I was insistent on playing Sporty Spice, for she wore pants and had brown hair, two solid interests of mine at the time. But I was cognisant of the fact that many, many of the girls (and some boys) – blonde, blue-eyed, full of youthful naïveté – were hell-bent on being the cute one, Baby Spice.

Now while it’s never been proven or disproven that which Spice girl you personally identified with at five charted your personality forever – Ginger, Scary, Posh, Sporty or Baby – it’s defs fair to say that it did not chart mine: I discovered not long after my star turn as Sporty at Kindy assembly that I was not coordinated enough for that particular role in life. But for some people, sure it’s true, they’re probably still cute, or still ginger, or still really like expensive things, like the Victoria by Victoria Beckham fashion label.

Anyhow, we’re caught in a well of primary school nostalgia because the results of a YouGov survey into the very important issue of who is the most popular Spice Girl came out today, anointing Baby Spice as #1 Spice. She was proffered the v prestigious title by 31,000 Britons, capturing 37% of the popular vote. Sporty Spice came in second (that’s my girl!) with 23%, then Ginger at 19%, Posh at 12% and Scary at 9%.

But while Scary may not be the most popular Spice, her fans are certainly the most woke, and are significantly more likely to describe themselves as ‘feminist’ than their counterparts. They’re also the biggest music lovers in the bunch. Meanwhile, friendship and fashurrnn are important to Posh lovers, who are more likely to be young and middle- or upper-class. Ginger Spice has the most boys in her crew, followed by Baby. Oh and, further to my point way up there, Sporty lovers are no more likely to be sporty in real life. So there, point proven, with statistics. Smashed it.

And while hopes of a live Spice Girls reunion were dashed by Posh back in February, last month each Girl signed off on their likenesses being used – and to voice acting –  in an animated ‘girl power’ superhero film.

Heck yes.
