Splendour In The Grass 2011 Check List

Splendour In The Grass is upon us again. Are you ready folks? If not we’ve thrown together a few tips to assist with the pre-festival prep.

WEATHER
Weather chat is a conversational sinking ship, except when camping is concerned. Rain has been rumoured. “Chance of rain” translates to spare tarps, gumboots, plastic sheets and zero chance of getting the Bush BBQ lit. An operational nightmare and a shitload of extra effort. That’s why the Google weather forecast is the one we choose to use!

TICKET
Print it out now and don’t forget it. And check you’ve got your ID.

TRAFFIC
The Queensland Transport Info Line 131 940 will have updated traffic reports dedicated to the festival area, and will carry similar information on their web site.

For Event info: qld.gov.au/Regions/NorthCoast/Road-Conditions and you can also tune into triple j radio (89.5 FM) to hear listener’s road trip reports

TIMETABLE
Before heading off go to the festival website and print one out here. You’ve already coughed up three-hundred-and-something clams, so being forced to fork out for a program is the personal finances equivalent of a mum joke. If you have a smart phone you can download the Splendour app for free too.

FOOD & DRINKS
If the costly Splendour ticket price had you flirting with bankruptcy, you can easily save some cash if you BYO festival-friendly snacks and bottled water. At a three day festival home-packed sandwiches are the stuff of kings, but muesli bars and your pre-packaged cheese and crackers travel much better, aside from the fact that magically producing free food is a top way to seal the deal with your peckish future husband/wife.

Paying for water is the pits. If you’re camping make sure you’re packing plenty.

Splendour does boast some of the best festival food, so if that’s the route you wanna take we strongly recommend the Satay Vege Burgers, burritos from the Guzman y Gomez tent, and the unparalleled tastiness of an Organic Donut.

THE JAGERMEISTER HUNTING LODGE
Sure this is a shameless plug, but our buddies at Jagermeister have sorted out a seriously epic chill out venue this year with the Jagermeister Hunting Lodge. And speaking of shameless plugs, Pedestrian DJs are playing from 2:30pm – 4:00pm on Saturday, so come enjoy tunes while sipping on plastic cups of delicious, refreshing Jagermeister. Mmmmm.

AVOID THE TIPI FOREST
Last year multiple people spotted a hygienically bereft individual shitting inside a Tipi. You’ve been warned.

JUST LISTEN TO JAYDOS
We’ll leave you with the words of “Festpert” Jaydos.

Have fun, Splendour goers.
