Kanye West Claims Donda Dropped Without His Approval And Hinted At Why Jail Pt 2 Was Missing

Kanye West - Donda

The morning after we finally got to hear Kanye West‘s ultra-hyped album Donda in full, the rapper has come out and said that the release actually wasn’t meant to be.

Just five hours after the album went live on streaming services, Kanye claimed on Instagram that it was dropped without him signing off on it.

“Universal put my album out without my approval and they blocked ‘Jail [pt] 2’ from being on the album,” he wrote in an otherwise barebones post.

For those keeping track, ‘Jail pt 2’ was still blacked out when the album first appeared online. However since Kanye’s Insta post, it’s now playable.

The track is controversial because it features DaBaby and Marylin Manson. According to now-deleted screenshots posted by Kanye, DaBaby’s manager apparently didn’t want to clear the track at first.

Other featuring artists on the 27-track, two-hour-long album include JAY-Z, Travis Scott, The Weeknd, Lil BabyLil Yachty, Ariana Grande, Kid CudiPlayboy Cardi, Young Thug and Pusha T.

Donda was actually first announced over a year ago, and over the past month we’ve been treated to a seemingly endless stream of listening parties at different Chicago stadiums. The amount of hype Kanye built up was astronomical.

Given the rapper’s statement on the matter, some stans even speculated that we might not have gotten anything at all if it wasn’t for his record label supposedly stepping in to drop the album.

Right now, the Universal call-out is Ye’s second Insta post after a snap of Kim Kardashian appearing at the Donda listening party in a bridal veil, despite Kim filing for divorce in February 2021. It was a lot to take in.

Anyway, what’s done is done. All 27 tracks are now out and fans are frothing.

As for the critics, we shall see when the reviews start rolling in.
