They say you should never meet your heroes, ’cause they’ll only disappoint you. There’s an insane amount of expectation subconsciously thrust upon the subject of your adoration, and it’s almost too much for any human – or Muppet – to bear.
Elmo ain’t exactly a regular puppet, though, so we can be pretty sure he lived up to Adele’s expectations when the pair met.
In a new Instagram post, the Grammy-stashin’, stadium-fillin’ singer revealed the duo finally managed to tee up a rendezvous. We’re pleased to announce that far from being another one-sided fan and idol relationship, they already appear to be close bloody mates.
The meet-up occurred after Elmo himself appeared on The Project, and launched an appeal to collab with the British singer on Rolling In The Deep. It’s not immediately clear if that ever eventuated, but hell, his solo rendition is still worth a re-listen.
Outside of palling it up with vaguely anthropomorphic fuzzballs, Adele has also been absolutely crushing it on her Australian tour. Her appearances at Sydney’s ANZ Stadium, the first of which kicks off tonight, are slated to become the most attended events at the grounds since the bloody Olympics.
That’s not a bad record to hold. And, we must reiterate, she got to meet Elmo – and hinted at an appearance on Sesame Street. What a life.
