After sneaking artist lookalikes into the ARIA Awards last year, this year triple j Breakfast hosts Ben & Liam (Ben Harvey and Liam Stapleton) levelled up and sent in their own reasonably convincing body doubles, Callum and Luke, who even managed to fool their radio co-workers Zan Rowe and Gemma Pike.

See, there Zan is, giving fake Liam a biiiiiiig hug as she mentions it’s his second ARIAs.

And then the lads hoed in on the complimentary grog, because that is what one DOES at these events. Meanwhile, the actual Ben & Liam were at home, watching it all go down on the telly, eating pizza – the best way to watch the ARIAs in these storms tbh.

It’s all in Ben & Liam’s Instagram stories, but here’s some highlights:
75% of voters thought they’d make it in easy – and they were right.

But they done goofed when press asked them very specific questions about the real Liam Stapleton’s toe tattoos, ‘David Toey’ and ‘Kurt Toebain’:

The doppelgängers themselves are posting from inside the Awards rn too, and they frothed those performances from Amy Shark and Kasey Chambers too.

Ben & Liam ended the night with a pizza-filled message, saying that they’re “proud” of their lookalikes: “Cheers for the night in.”

If you don’t remember Ben & Liam’s gag last year: they sent in lookalikes for Kevin Parker/Tame Impala, Adam Hyde from Peking Duk and Meg Mac. And they got away with it too right up until the actual musicians turned up.
Well played, lads, well played.
